La Candelaria: Recovering a Tradition

Torrox brings back a custom that once marked the end of the farming year: bonfires lit at dusk on the lighthouse grounds, traditional songs, and the burning of an effigy figure at the heart of the celebration.

The event forms part of a wider push by the town to recover local heritage that had largely fallen out of practice, alongside this summer’s traditional-crafts workshops.
