Return Procession of the Virgen de Gracia to the Sanctuary (Subida)

Nine days after her descent, the Virgen de Gracia makes the return journey from the Parroquia de Santa Ana back up to her sanctuary above the town. Bearers carry her out through the streets in the early evening, and as dusk falls the route fills with torches and candlelight for the climb up the hill.

It’s a steeper, slower procession than the bajada, and the atmosphere turns more solemn as the image nears the sanctuary. Expect the route between the church and the santuario to be closed to traffic for the evening.
