Virgin of the Rosary Pilgrimage

A romería is a traditional pilgrimage to a rural shrine. Humilladero’s September celebration honours the Virgin of the Rosary, beginning with dawn mass at the Parroquia del Cristo de la Misericordia before the procession sets out for La Sierrecilla carrying the ‘Sin Pecao’ image. Horsemen compete in ribbon-catching contests along the route, and Málaga’s drum school accompanies the procession’s return to town.
