Noche de las Lumbres (Night of the Bonfires)

Farmhouses across the Cómpeta countryside light bonfires to mark the end of the raisin harvest, a custom that goes back generations in this muscatel-growing corner of the Axarquía. Locals move between the cortijos on foot or by car, sharing anís and tapas around the fires before the gathering moves into Plaza del Carmen for music into the small hours.

There’s no set programme or ticket — it’s a night of visiting neighbours and passing farms, so arriving early and asking locally about which cortijos are open is the best way in.
